Norwegian woods

Last Friday I took a break from study, a group of us taking a walk in the woods near the house of one of my classmates, Ingrid.
The numerous walking tracks double as cross-country ski trails in winter. The trees are still in the early stages of autumn so the forest colours were not as beautiful as I had hoped, but the forest was still lovely.
After our walk we returned to Ingrid's house for waffles with home-made strawberry jam and brown cheese. So good .....

That evening we went to see a film followed by a seminar by some academics from PRIO. The film, La Primera Noche, was set in Colombia and depicted a family torn apart (and by the end of the film mostly dead) due to the ongoing civil war. The seminar was on civil war more generally - mostly on why they are in general so prolonged. After the talking we tucked into some free Colombian cuisine.

Next week I'll be getting more of the Norwegian woods. We have a "study week" (ie no classes, but they don't want us holidaying too much) and one of my classmates, Didrik, has invited some of the non-Norskes to stay in his cabin in the mountains for a few days. He has promised to us a Norwegian moose dish as part of the experience!
